Morva Recruitment is seeking a Principal or Senior Mechanical Engineer on behalf of a highly respected building services consultancy in the South West. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to take a senior role within a business renowned for delivering high-quality projects across the region.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in mechanical or building services engineering, have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, and be a member of a recognised professional body. You’ll be client-facing, confident in managing projects of all sizes, and skilled at developing, mentoring, and supporting colleagues.

What we’re looking for:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or building services engineering (or equivalent), meeting the academic requirements for professional engineer status.

  • Proven track record delivering building services designs for both small- and large-scale projects.

  • Strong IT skills with experience in AutoCAD, Revit, Cymap and Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Drive, ambition, and determination to progress your career.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with above-average written and spoken English.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage budgets, and make sound financial decisions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to business growth by identifying new opportunities, nurturing existing client relationships, and supporting the company’s development plans.

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary design team to deliver projects on time, providing technical support where needed.

  • Prepare and monitor budgets in line with client specifications, ensuring projects are delivered to budget and timescales.

  • Liaise with clients and external design teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Take ownership of professional training and development.

  • Stay up to date with technical developments, standards, and legislation relevant to the discipline.

  • Prepare specifications, drawings, and contract documents to a high technical standard, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.

  • Deliver mechanical building engineering design for buildings and infrastructure.

  • Identify and manage scope or schedule changes in line with change control processes, maintaining effective planning and cost control.
